On Grassroots Efforts

In earlier blogs I have written, sometimes directly, sometimes indirectly, about our national leadership. Probably this is because, in the past, I have been used to looking to our leaders for tactics and policies that try to unite us as a people. Obviously we are not always successful, and sometimes we are not very good to each other, but we generally try. This era’s leadership does no such thing, and we are, in fact, being intentionally divided into drastic polarizations. We are seeing ourselves as citizens of the Divided States of America, and this is just plain wrong.

I have also written earlier that when our leaders do not lead, the people must lead. This is one of those times. We, the people, need to create a tone, an atmosphere of invitation, connection and inclusion to replace the purposely-placed hatred, bigotry and mean spiritedness in our country. We can do this in the smallest and largest of ways… like the simple spreading of kindness, for instance (Do you need some help?... Let me get the door… I’ll carry that for you…) Or maybe we can organize neighborhood get togethers so that we are not strangers to one another. Or form action groups that bring people together. Or run for office.

This is not just feel-good stuff. It is an active means of creating a working unity among those of us who value our lives and the wellbeing of our country. Normally this is not an interactive blog, but I suspect that there are many of us who are feeling what I have been writing about, and maybe some of us are already taking connective measures to bypass a President and Congress who seem not to have the peoples’ good at heart. So… if you are active in creating ideas or methods that will bring healing to ourselves and our land, you might send them to me at margaretstortzdd@gmail.com, and when I get a good set of possibilities and current actions, I will share them in a future blog. Love is not just a nice word. It is a dynamic healing energy. Enough said.
