The Absolute and The Relative

In metaphysical thinking we all eventually come across what we discover as the Absolute and the Relative in mental work. The Glossary in The Science of Mind Text gives us its meaning for the Absolute, saying “The Unconditioned…that which nothing can limit; that which forever transcends any conceivable limitation or determination.” Its definition of the Relative, on the other hand, is simply stated, “That which depends on something else.” These two principles may not hold a lot of meaning for us as we live our lives, but perhaps it is fun to know that there is a divine, unconditional part of us that is connected to the pristine Whole even as we live as relative beings in the world of affairs.

The Perfect Mind of God...

We may, from time to time, touch the Perfect Mind of God as we quietly focus upon the Divine Energies, only to “slip a cog” and soon find ourselves engaging in the demands of active living. We may say, in a manner of speaking, that the Absolute in action becomes “relativized” in the world of time and space.

We may carry the Whole into the part....

This bit of knowledge may have little consideration for us except that we can know that there is a quiet, stable place in us into which we may retreat and be recharged with Infinite Being, a place where we may carry the Whole into the part that may need healing and restoration. In a world that never leaves us alone, I would think that the awareness of this bit of renewal means everything!
