Bible buffs will know that St. Paul, in his first letter to the Thessalonians, gave them several admonitions, one of which was… pray without ceasing. These, I believe, to be three of the most powerful words ever uttered because they are recognitions of our deep connection with the Infinite. In my current state of care giving, I find my lips moving in silent prayer all through the day, not necessarily long, deliberate outpourings but small seconds of reflection sent Godward to see what the weather is like…sunny, raining or windy, I am carried along to a place that awaits me, awaits all who turn to renewal.
A waiting spot...
A waiting spot...
People who find themselves in a place they never sought, yet recognize as theirs, know there must be a waiting spot for refreshment, even if the visits there are sometimes simply momentary. Yet all is given in these moments, the means to return with gifts to give when before all seemed bare. We can “touch the hem,” whirl the wheel, touch the forehead to the floor, temple the fingers together and be filled once more.
Connection...
Connection...
There is no magic in prayer; there is connection. There is a return to the Source that reminds us again of who we are and that, however imperfectly we may sometimes do our work, it is still holy.
No worries...
No worries...
No worries, no self laceration, no great concerns about successes or failures. All days move from one to the next and are bound together…when we allow it…by love.
Prayer is connection, and connection gives life.
