At the End of the Day

We are naturally active, busy human beings, and the differences among us generally are matters of degree. Some of us hold important, responsible positions that demand our earnest efforts consistently; some of us may find ourselves in more relaxed, less challenging situations, even if we once may have held positions that once were quite telling. No matter where and how we sit today, there will be a time of reckoning, so to speak, a time when we will face the end of the day as we see how we have lived our lives and what will live on after us.

Have we left footprints?.....

Setting aside mistakes and misfirings, can we look in the mirror and see the face of someone who did his or her best? Have we left footprints that have guided others… children, perhaps, or friends… into good decisions? Did we live lives of care and concern, even if some of what we did seemed less impactful, or did we remain “closed in the bud,” afraid to take “the risk of blossoming,” as Anais Nin asks?

The day has not yet ended...

Self assessments, not judgments, are worthwhile and can remind us that the day has not yet ended. There is yet time to take those steps that we are pondering. As Wayne Dyer said, “We are spiritual beings living a human life,” and there is still light before us.

Shall we open that door in front of us?
