As the
Apostle Paul made his evangelizing way through the Middle East and Asia Minor,
he often used, either as a greeting or a benediction, an invocation which was
meant to confer the Peace of God on his
audiences. Good thing Paul was so ardent
in spreading the Good News to the world or what we know as traditional
Christianity might have been confined only to the Jewish-Palestinian world.
Our strident divisions...
And how much
of an impact would the Peace of God bring to our world today? Could we put aside our strident divisions and
let ourselves be spiritually restored, regardless of religions systems? Couldn’t we use Divine Peace greatly today as
we navigate through mountains of hate-filled speech that demonizes the “other?”
A quality of the Infinite...
Peace of
Mind is a quality of the Infinite in that it comes into life with us, but, like
Love and many of the other qualities, we must uncover it, recognize it, and learn how to
use it. A world without the action of
Divine Peace---which would be a naturally-calming occurrence if we understood
it… would be a world of war-like confrontations.
We are meant to enjoy the Gifts.....
As the
people of God, all of us, this cannot be for us. We are meant to enjoy the Gifts of the
Spirit, which involve the Infinite Qualities… Love, Harmony, Order, Wisdom and
Peace, to name a few. We are meant to
cultivate them, bring them into the world in all the ways we can imagine, and
truly be a force for Good.
