What's Important?
At the end of the day, after the smoke clears, after we have met each demand, dotted every “I”, crossed every “t”, what will be important? What will matter to us more… a kept appointment or the offer of a steady hand? A clear eye or a loving heart? Maybe these are unfair questions to ask because it will surely be where we find ourselves that will direct our answers.
Did we obsess in getting everything right.....
As the years move along, we may well find that the things that were so important when we were younger may not stack up so importantly as we age. That paper that meant so much in class is now barely remembered. Did we obsess in getting everything right, only to later discover that no one else cared anyway?
Let things unfold as they would...
The good thing about discovering perspective, as time will teach, is that many things and situations do not last forever and didn’t matter that much anyway. Probably what we did was upset ourselves needlessly when we could have let things unfold as they would.
Every child grows strong and healthy...
Every passing year allows us the opportunity to grow up, get smarter… and settle down. People will not do what we want them to anyway, and everything temporal will wear out sooner or later. What does matter is that every child grows strong and healthy, guided by love and support.
Remember, there’s gotta be a good reason for getting older!
