On Managing

Are we noticing that we do not attack all that we do in a day with equal energy and vigor? Yes, there are those ideas and items that get maximum energy and attention, but these are few. Truthfully, we simply would not have the time and enthusiasm to give our all to everything every day. Consequently we do a lot of what I call… “managing.” We push a lot of things into action with minimal use of time and vitality. In other words, we “manage…”

Our vitalities need rest and replenishing...

Nothing the matter with managing. Our personal thoughtfulness, time and energies are very precious and should be marshalled with vigor only when a circumstance demands it. Otherwise we may spend the best of ourselves needlessly when a smaller portion of time and use would do. By now, most of us have discovered that our vitalities need rest and replenishing if we are to bring forth whatever is needed in each daily circumstance.

Time and talent users...

Now managing is not to be dismissed as second-class use of ourselves. In fact, efficiency demands that we become skillful at it, and it actually is what moves most of our days to completion. Therefore we should value this wonderful part of ourselves for the time and talent users that they are and be thankful that managing is one of our skills!
