On a Higher Love

It is up to us as individual thinkers and members of families and communities to move according to what many call a “Higher Love.” We might wonder what this means, but a little thought will encourage us to know that living from such a level means rising above the littleness of our lives. We all know how ordinary our habits can become. Most times most of us go through our days on “automatic pilot.” We don’t have to think about what lies ahead, just grab a cup of coffee and fold ourselves into the daily flow. Nothing the matter with this, but it means we are just moving on an ordinary love wavelength. We don’t want to make ripples, let alone waves.

Our worlds need our best....

We are better than this, and we know it. We contain massive love impulses that we seldom act upon, but frankly our worlds need our best…and highest…love. We need ourselves and each other at the highest level of operational loving we can generate. Once more I say it again: When our leaders do not lead, the people must lead…and in ways that really affirm life.

Can we love enough.....?

Can we love enough to fix what we see that is broken? Can we love enough to participate in governing roles in both community and larger levels? Can we love enough to see that our children everywhere live safe and healthy lives? Can we love enough to get busy and vote? There are those in positions of power in our country who would eliminate the hard-won messiness of democratic institutions and replace them with quick, efficient autocracies. Democracies need informed, engaged citizens who mind the store in order to be viable. Will we love enough to insure this?
